Worldview is the invisible, driving force behind all human values, beliefs and behaviors. Although it is the framework by which individuals and groups interpret the world and its realities, many people go about life unaware of how their particular worldview influences everything they do. Worldview is like an ideal contact lens: it fits so comfortably that it goes unnoticed by the wearer as it helps them interpret what it is that they are seeing. Every worldview has at its foundation a story. Each worldview's foundational story helps answer for its adherents basic questions concerning identity, such as: Who am I? Where am I? What is the problem? What is the solution?
For Christians—in every place and time—the foundational story of their worldview has been the one now found within the pages of the Bible. The combination of narratives, poems, hymns, biographies and personal letters that comprise both Old and New Testaments are the singular, foundational story of global Christianity. Yet, the distinct lack of familiarity with the Bible itself on the part of many well-intentioned believers has resulted in a disconnect between the worldview of 21st century, western Christians and the worldview put forth by its foundational story.
The Foundation Experiment endeavors to strengthen the minds and hearts of 21st century Christians by reminding them—sometimes for the first time—of the people, places and stories that came before them and helping them to think more critically about the implications of having received such a great inheritance. To this end, The Foundation Experiment provides individuals and small groups with a guided immersion into the entire biblical narrative. In just 20 weeks, participants in The Foundation Experiment will read through the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, alongside a guide. The guide will provide historical, geographical, cultural and literary contexts and connections for selected biblical events, as well as plenty of encouragement and accountability along the journey.
